Book Report & Diorama Report: DUE Monday, December 8th: Please have your student bring their chapter book to school for teacher approval ASAP. Students may not choose Knight at Dawn, Charlotte’s Web, or a graphic novel.
We are reading chapter books in 2nd grade, and we’re ready for a book report! Reading chapter books with your student is a great way to spend time with your student. Each student will present an oral report about their book, and each student will present their book in the form of a diorama. Students may choose a fiction book of their choice. The book must be a fiction chapter book that is appropriate to 2nd grade (can not be a graphic novel). Please do not feel like you need to go out to a store to purchase items for the diorama. Let your child use his/her imagination with objects you already have around your home. This project is worth 100 points. Here are some good books to choose from (you may choose from this list, or you can find a fiction book of your choice).
Magic Tree House, Dory Fantasmagory, Cam Jansen, The Littles, and so much more!
Look in your student's binder for more detailed information.
Practice with your student so that they are ready to present. Practice reading with good fluency and making eye contact with their audience.
Make sure your student's name and date are on the diorama and the project papers.
Make sure that everything is written in complete sentences.
EX:
* The title of the book is...
* The author is...
* The illustrator is...
* The main characters are...
*The virtue shown is justice, temperance, fortitude, or prudence (choose one). The characters show justice, temperance, fortitude, or prudence (choose one) by...
* Please be sure that the diorama and report are completed by the student. Work not done by the student will result in a zero. Late projects will not be accepted.

Cookie Decorating and Book Exchange: Friday, December 19th
Our class will be having a cookie decorating party and a holiday book exchange and celebration on Friday, December 19th. Your student drew the name of a classmate. The name, along with a little information about the child is in your child's binder. Please use this information to purchase one book for the child for up to $10. Costco, Amazon, and Walmart are all great options for inexpensive books as well. Please wrap the book, add a tag with who the book is to, but do not put who it is from. Please send books no later than Friday, December 12th. If you are unable to purchase a book, that’s OK! Please let us know so we can make other arrangements! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Cookie decorating items have been placed in your child's binder as well. If you are unable to bring in the item, please let me know. Thank you in advance!
